[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_07]: I've been told by some older people, elders that you grab them and you hold them and you don't own them but you hold them there until daylight.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_07]: If we can hold them or pull them into the light it destroys anything they have.

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_07]: Any kind of power or anything that or anything they were trying to do to you, it'll destroy them.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_02]: This guy was like bouncing.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Like you know how you see people kind of getting ready to jig, you know how they kind of bounce?

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah he was like that way, he was just kind of bouncing and he was just kind of going back and forth and one foot through the other.

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_02]: And he just kind of turned sideways and he turned back over to the other way and he took off, holy sh** he jumped in and wanded up.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_01]: He knows a lot about skin walkers because I feel that there's a lot of misconceptions surrounding these skin walkers

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: and if you've ever wondered what they are, how they came to be, why they came to be or can they be helped.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Also, the sound of machinery in the background that's always on my videos, it's a water pressure enhancer or regulator or something

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: it puts more pressure on the lines from the house.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm sorry I can't stop that, I can't get it off and this is the quietest place at my house that I have to record

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I had a lot of my own questions answered in this one and if he ever makes it, he said he might make time to come up to Montana

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_04]: So I am Dineh, I come from the Navajo Nation and I guess you can say I've had my fair share of paranormal experiences

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_04]: growing up on the reservation and everything.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_04]: I grew up on a border town going back and forth to the reservation where my mother and my grandmother were raised

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_04]: and being Native American I'm pretty sure all you listeners out there understand

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_04]: like going to ceremony from pretty much birth to present now wherever you are in your life.

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_04]: You know you kind of experience the paranormal, you kind of experience spiritual beings and deities throughout your life and everything

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_04]: and so I am not a medicine man, I'm not a guardian but I was a helper for good many years throughout my upbringing in my life

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_04]: and I did see a lot of skin walkers while I was helping out my brother

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_04]: and I guess you can say even outside of helping my brother too just being on the Navajo Nation on the res over there

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_04]: So it was like one of those things you know you go to ceremony and everything and sometimes when I was a little kid

[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I used to see the medicine men have to go outside and chase away skin walkers or organic groceries and everything

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_04]: One of my first experiences that I actually had was

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I was a young boy and I was getting kind of introduced to a lot of helping out my brother and my uncle

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_04]: as far as spiritual deities and ceremonies and everything

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_04]: So it was pretty crazy because it's funny because if you talk to anybody like on the Navajo Nation

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_04]: whenever they talk about skin walkers or yena-gleshi's the story always starts out with

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_04]: one time at my great grandma's house or one time at my grandma's house

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_04]: One of those things you know so

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_04]: but my great grandmother's place up there

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_04]: he kind of used to have a lot of those jumping the skins running around and everything

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_04]: and so she used to always tell us when we were younger

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_04]: to always try to go to sleep before when the sun goes down

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_04]: don't be up at night because that's when the spirits kind of run around and everything

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_04]: they can take you away, they can do all these things to you

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_04]: so you know you're going to have B Reverend and respectful of the beings of the night kind of thing

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_04]: So sometimes my great grandma she never had electricity or running water

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_04]: so she had like an outhouse outside

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_04]: so sometimes you know when we were little kids we would have to go out

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_04]: it was I would have to say is about like 50-60 yards away from the house

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_04]: and so it would be like 10 o'clock at night

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_04]: it'd be like really cold outside and everything

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_04]: and so we were little kids I would have to use restroom

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_04]: my mom would be like tell my older brother to go with me and everything

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_04]: and I was like okay so him and I would just go out there

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_04]: and sometimes you would start hearing like whistles

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_04]: you would start hearing like people call out to you and everything

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_04]: and then being in the restroom my brother would be like hurry up we're going to go back inside

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_04]: so you can't even use the restroom in peace out there

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_04]: but yeah man it's kind of more so the stories of the skin walker and everything

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_04]: you know it's one of those things to where like a lot of people have different stories

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_04]: of the origins of where they come from

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_04]: but how I was told was long time ago there was a ceremony that was used

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_04]: to be able to traverse land really fast

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_04]: and so on the Navajo Nation we had four sacred mountains

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_04]: that pretty much outlined the border of the nation

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_04]: so the medicinal people used to travel to those mountains within four days

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_04]: and then the spirit people taught them how to transform into these animals

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_04]: to be able to traverse the land really really quickly

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_04]: but somewhere along the line

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_04]: somewhere along all that evil was introduced to be able to start teaching people

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_04]: how to do it the evil way because when you learn how to do it the good way

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_04]: it takes a long long time to be able to learn how to do that

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_04]: and from what I know there's a couple of people out there

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_04]: in the Navajo Nation that still know how to do it the good way

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_04]: but they're very very old and they kind of keep to themselves

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_04]: and they don't really talk about it

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_04]: but I do know a couple of people that do do it today

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_04]: so evil came along to try to teach people how to do it

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_04]: through the evil way it would be a lot quicker

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_04]: so you would have to do certain bad things to be able to gain certain power

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I guess you can say is like borrowed power

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_04]: so from evil and everything

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_04]: so you would have to make sacrifices

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_04]: you would have to do all sorts of morbid things

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_04]: to the body that you sacrifice of the loved one that's really close to you

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_04]: and so then you would have to go out and get your skin

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_04]: whether that be through a buckskin, coyoteskin

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_04]: and those are the two animals that were really kind of prevalent

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_04]: in the Navajo Nation at the time there were other ones too

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_04]: but those ones were I guess easier to get at the time

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_04]: so then there would be like a lot of darker evil things

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_04]: that you would have to do to the kill that you got to be able to make the skin

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_04]: how it is, mark it up, do all these other different things with it

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_04]: and it's just like through that ceremony

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_04]: you learn how to shapeshift like that

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_04]: but to be able to learn how to do that through that way

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I guess you're in a constant state of owing the evil

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_04]: because that power that you use is of your own

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_04]: it's borrowed power from someone else

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_04]: so you always have to do evil things

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_04]: you always have to do certain things to be able to appease and borrow more power

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_04]: from the evil being

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_04]: so I guess that's why like a lot of people

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_04]: one of those questions I always get is like what's the reasoning behind it

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_04]: why do people turn bad, why do people do skinwalkers stuff and everything

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_04]: and I guess you can say it's a lot of people get dealt a bad hand in life, man

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_04]: it's a lot of times their family is broken

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_04]: and drugs are involved, alcoholism

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_04]: or there's a lot of orphans out there too

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_04]: and they long for that love

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_04]: they long for that family-ness, that bond

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_04]: and sometimes you know evil will come along and be like

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I can give you a family, I can give you all this stuff

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_04]: all you have to do is just do these certain things for me and you can have that

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_04]: and so there's certain circumstances like that

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_04]: and there's just people out there that are just pure evil

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_04]: and they just want to do it just for kind of like I always think of the Joker

[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_04]: sometimes some people just want to see the world burn

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_04]: you know, yeah so it's one of those situations that

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_04]: a lot of people in the reservations that don't live on the reservations

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_04]: don't understand the hardships of everyday life

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_04]: and now they're having power, not having electricity

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_04]: and still going through that generational trauma

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_04]: of like boarding schools, our ceremonies very

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_04]: barely becoming legal in 1973

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_04]: you know, American Indian movement, all that stuff

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_04]: you know, my mom, my grandparents

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_04]: my uncles and everything, all those guys were

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_04]: in that time of rebelling and just fighting for the right

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_04]: to be alive, fighting for the right to do our ceremonies

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_04]: and so there's a lot of that generational trauma

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_04]: that's kind of out there and some people handle it better than others

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_04]: so you know, it's one of those things that people that don't live on the reservation don't understand

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_04]: so that's more so like the origins

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_04]: that's more so the reasonings why these beings do what they do

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_04]: and the reason why I say like these beings are more so

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_04]: on the Navajo Nation in my videos or kind of nearby

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_04]: is because I let people know that there are

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_04]: other tribes, other beings, other races, other religions

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_04]: do have shapeshifters, it's just the Yanagloshi and

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_04]: skinwalker come more so originally from the Navajo Nation

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_04]: it's just a specific shapeshifter I guess you can say

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah, yeah so

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah that's pretty crazy I mean because in our tribe

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_01]: like I was saying earlier we don't have those

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_01]: we don't have a type of

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_01]: how I look at it is a bad medicine man or woman

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_01]: that does that in a way like that

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_01]: that's not to say there's not bad medicine that does go around

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_01]: that's not to say that but as far as having this

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_01]: their prevalent thing is to jump in the skin of an animal

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and travel and do all these bad deeds

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_01]: because they're basically a slave from my understanding of what she just said

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_01]: there's nothing in my tribe to be the same as that

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess I would say

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_01]: that's good

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah it is because I'm from the Blackfeet tribe

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and our ways are really all native ways are really similar

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and that

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_01]: see one thing I'd like people to realize too is

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_01]: it's all about life force balance

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and transformation is like the old ways right

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_01]: it's always about that

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_01]: so like when you pray what are you doing when you pray

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_01]: what's happening

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_01]: well your life force your spirit is going out

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's touching another one

[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_01]: wherever you're directing those prayers toward

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_01]: to transform that person into a better version of themselves

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_01]: so the body can follow their spirit

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_01]: you know and that's what happens when we all pray

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_01]: and we're always doing these ceremonies

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_01]: that's why they're so powerful and a lot of the elders

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: will tell you

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_01]: you don't think bad thoughts when you come in here

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_01]: you leave that at the door

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_01]: you come in here and you gotta pray for even your enemies

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_01]: if they were to be in that same ceremony

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_01]: you gotta leave that alone

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_01]: because of that life force that goes

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_01]: you don't want to harm somebody that way

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_01]: you always want to protect them

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and bless them

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_01]: so with a lot of this

[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_01]: how I look at it and how I understand it

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_01]: with the skin walkers that

[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_01]: they're using a life force too but in a really bad way

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_01]: you know

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah that's kind of how they work

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_04]: and everything and it's very sad

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_04]: and that's one thing is like when we were doing our trainings

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_04]: and everything to protect ourselves with it

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_04]: I was always taught those teachings too

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_04]: never pray against anybody

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_04]: never pray against evil like that

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_04]: pray for them not against them

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_04]: pray that they come around to their senses

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_04]: and they come back to the holy ways again

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_04]: and so it's just one of those things

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_04]: that unfortunately sometimes

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_04]: younger ones that are going through that hard time

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_04]: the parents didn't teach them that

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_04]: especially with these younger generations

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_04]: it seems like

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_04]: a lot of those teachings are being lost

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_04]: especially with

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_04]: COVID that just happened too

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_04]: one of my grandfathers was a part of

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_04]: a medicine man association

[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_04]: and unfortunately

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_04]: a good handful of medicinal people

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_04]: passed away from COVID

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_04]: and unfortunately a lot of their ceremonies

[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_04]: get passed on

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_04]: so you know

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_04]: that's like one of the main things

[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_04]: with my channel is I try to teach

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_04]: those basic understandings

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_04]: of love

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_04]: and compassion

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_04]: and you know

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_04]: the more that you fear that these beings

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_04]: the more power that they get

[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_04]: so don't fear them

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_04]: pray for them

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_04]: hope and pray that they can get through this

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_04]: don't fight with fists

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_04]: fight with love and prayer

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_04]: sometimes you might have to use your fists

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_04]: and everything but just say

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_04]: sorry you love them after

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_01]: you know

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_04]: from their parents or they're not connected

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_04]: in that way

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_04]: can use that information to be able to help them

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_04]: and

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_04]: if they ever do run into beings like that

[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_04]: and I also just do like normal videos

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_04]: like I want to be able to

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_04]: make movies in the future too

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_04]: music videos and stuff like that

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_04]: just more so happy

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_04]: happy side of things

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_04]: you always got to have a balance of darkness

[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_04]: and happiness in your life

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's pretty interesting

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I just got into this podcasting

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: about a year and some change

[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_01]: ago and I never really

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_04]: one of the videos that's on my channel and everything

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_04]: they had a shed that was

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_04]: very very evil I guess

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_04]: you could say there's evil objects inside of it

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_04]: and I would have to

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_04]: say I was a good couple years

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_04]: within my trainings with

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_04]: being a medicine man helper at the time

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_04]: and

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_04]: it was pretty gnarly because

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_04]: when we went into that shed

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_04]: and we started taking all the

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_04]: items out of there

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't really tell this inside

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_04]: of the video and everything but

[00:21:01] [SPEAKER_04]: when they were taking items

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_04]: of the darker

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_04]: I guess you could say pieces

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_04]: inside of those old 50s chests

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_04]: inside of the

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_04]: the shed there

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_04]: they um

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_04]: once they started opening them up and they started grabbing them

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_04]: and putting them inside of their medicine bags

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_04]: uh just to make sure that

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_04]: the evil energy didn't run around everywhere

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_04]: you know they told me

[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_04]: to stay outside because I wasn't

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_04]: um trained enough to be able

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_04]: to handle that evil energy just in case

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_04]: they jumped on me and stuff

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_04]: um so when I was out there

[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_04]: I just remember hearing

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_04]: footsteps all around and then I started

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_04]: seeing shadow silhouettes

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_04]: kind of walking around

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_04]: in that area and then I started

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_04]: hearing whispers it's like

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_04]: just a man

[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_04]: woman and just started

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_04]: hearing all that stuff

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_04]: and when it comes to the Yanagloshia or the skinwalker

[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_04]: they carry around these crystals

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_04]: along their belts to help them

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_04]: transform and be able to see

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_04]: like within a home and

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_04]: to be able to witch people more remotely

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_04]: from a distance and stuff so

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_04]: but when they wear those crystals

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_04]: in the moonlight the stars

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_04]: and everything up in the sky

[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_04]: they kind of tell on

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_04]: evil where it's at so they make them

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_04]: flicker so you can kind of

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_04]: see red flickers in the darkness

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_04]: so that's when I knew

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_04]: that those things were kind of around

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_04]: so unfortunately

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_04]: there was a skinwalker regalia

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_04]: inside of that shed that was there

[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_04]: and so we gathered up

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_04]: the skinwalker regalia, the skin antlers

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_04]: and everything and then so

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_04]: we performed a ceremony

[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_04]: to be able to release the spirit of the

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_04]: buck to be able to go

[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_04]: back to do whatever it wants to

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_04]: do you know again whoever killed it

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_04]: in malicious ways and all that stuff

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_04]: and so

[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_04]: when we ran that ceremony

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_04]: those beings came even closer

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_04]: and they didn't want the ceremony

[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_04]: to go so they tried to scare us off

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_04]: but we didn't

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_04]: I guess you can say we didn't get scared

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_04]: so we continued on the ceremony

[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_04]: and then once the ceremony was almost done

[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_04]: you see them run toward the canyons

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_04]: and everything and so once

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_04]: the ceremony was done you see

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_04]: a big old gust of wind

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_04]: go against the fire and then that's when

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_04]: you felt like the spirit of the buck go toward

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_04]: the direction of where they ran

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_04]: and then you hear one of those

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_04]: skinwalker scream and everything off

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_04]: in the distance so

[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_04]: these beings can be physical

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_04]: but more so they're

[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_04]: they're more so spiritual

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_04]: not a lot of people

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_04]: these days I guess you

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_04]: can say do jump in the skins because

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_04]: it's just not worth it to be able to do that

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_04]: plus you know back in the day

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_04]: it was a lot easier to be able to

[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_04]: have someone go missing but

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_04]: it still happens today

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_04]: but not as much as back in the past

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_04]: so if you're

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_04]: ever running to a

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_04]: you see them more likely

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_04]: it's going to be a spiritual being

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_01]: dang I didn't know that

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I thought they were all like physical

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: bad medicine so there's spirits as well

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_04]: didn't pay their debts they ended up dying

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_04]: but even in the spiritual world they still have to

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_04]: pay their debts

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_01]: that's horrible

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I heard you talking

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_01]: too about those

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_01]: thunder beings our tribe

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_01]: has a really good

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_01]: relationship with the

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_01]: thunder as well we have

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_01]: thunder pipes, thunder bundles

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_01]: things like that

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and

[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_01]: one thing that you say

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_01]: that always kind of resonates with me in your

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_01]: videos is

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_01]: they're really powerful beings you don't mess with them

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's how we are too

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_01]: same way we don't mess

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_01]: with them but we're happy that

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_01]: when we hear them coming

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_01]: because when the first thunder comes

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_01]: that's when all the thunder bundles get open

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_01]: the thunder pipes get smoked

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and everything and that medicine

[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_01]: comes directly from the thunder

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: itself, hims us

[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_01]: you know that spirit that's there

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and

[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of the times

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_01]: we call them as thunder men or thunder women

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_01]: usually a thunder man

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_01]: there's an old story about when

[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_01]: this woman was trying to set up one of her

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_01]: okons or a Sundance where she wasn't

[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_01]: supposed to and that thunder man was telling her

[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_01]: hey look you can't do that it's going to be in this area

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and she just goes on

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_01]: with it that thunder man warned her

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and when she was

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_01]: doing her ceremony that that summer

[00:25:38] [SPEAKER_01]: she was actually struck and killed

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_01]: but

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_01]: she was the only one out of that whole

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_01]: because there was a bunch of them in that lodge

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_01]: but she was the only one to die

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_01]: from that she got killed that day because

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_01]: the thunder told her to

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_01]: move that to not have it there

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and she went ahead and disobeyed

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_01]: and went against what the thunder was saying

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_01]: you know

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah there are stories we have too

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_01]: with those

[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_01]: beings and every time I

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_01]: talk to somebody about it

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_01]: they always

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_01]: say the same thing

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_01]: really be careful around

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_01]: the thunder

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_01]: the thunder beings you gotta really be careful

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_01]: but on the flip side of that

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_01]: the thunder

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_01]: in our way is afraid of

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_01]: the raven

[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_01]: or we call the raven the cold maker

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_01]: because when the cold comes

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_01]: that's when the thunder has to hit out

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_01]: south

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_01]: but another interesting thing about

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_01]: our stories of the thunder is

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_01]: his lodge is all made of rocks

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a rock lodge

[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_01]: that's where he lives in there

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_04]: see I love hearing like other tribes

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_04]: stories about these beings and everything

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_04]: because it's just like it's so interesting

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_04]: to hear you know their experiences

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_04]: their stories and everything

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_01]: you've never heard like I was listening to stories

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_01]: about a horse man

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah I'm trying to get him to come

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_01]: that story about when he

[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_01]: him and his brother in law seen that horse man

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah but you know

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_01]: whoever hears of those kinds of

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_01]: stories you know like they come out

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_01]: when you're all sitting around late at night

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_01]: adding cat mints and stuff yeah

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_04]: was adopted into

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_04]: a shields family up in South Dakota

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_04]: we were invited to go to

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_04]: a Sundance out there over in Rosebud

[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_04]: so we were going there ever since

[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_04]: I was a little kid and so

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_04]: I remember this once

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_04]: we were sitting by the fire and everything

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_04]: and it was at night

[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_04]: time and so like we're getting ready to dance

[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_04]: the next morning and everyone went to sleep

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_04]: and so I became good friends with one of

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_04]: the kids that was

[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_04]: sons of the fire chief

[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_04]: so him and I were just kind of talking

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_04]: and just

[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_04]: exchanging stories and everything

[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_04]: because he's Apache

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_04]: and so we're sitting at the fire

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_04]: and I would have to say it was about like 11

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_04]: or 12 at night it was just him and I

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_04]: and so while we're sitting there

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_04]: telling stories out in

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_04]: the distance you know it's

[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_04]: there's kind of like in a nearer

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_04]: or a v- where there's

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_04]: like some trees there and everything

[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_04]: and so behind the trees

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_04]: we heard a wagon

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_04]: going through

[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_04]: and we were just like is that

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_04]: a wagon you know kind of

[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_04]: you hear the old wooden wheels going

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_04]: through and then where it was

[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_04]: it was a campsite

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_04]: there was people sleeping there so there

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_04]: was no way a wagon

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_04]: can kind of go through there

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_04]: and so you kind of hear a horse

[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_04]: walking through and everything and then not too

[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_04]: long after the chief kind of comes up

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_04]: and everything and then I asked him

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_04]: I was like do you hear that he's just like yeah

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_04]: you guys need to go to bed

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll go ahead and watch the fire and everything

[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_04]: he says like especially during

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_04]: ceremony time like this

[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_04]: you know at night time the spirits

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_04]: do their ceremonies too

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_04]: so you gotta be revering you guys gotta go to sleep

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_04]: just kind of like how my grandma

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_04]: great grandma used to tell those stories too

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_04]: when it's dark time you know you gotta let the

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_04]: spirits do their thing and especially during

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_04]: ceremony time too the spirits are doing their

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_04]: thing at night so he's just

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_04]: I remember as a kid I was like one of the most

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_04]: it's not the first

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_04]: but it was definitely one of those like I was

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_04]: my my brain was more developed

[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_04]: and I was just like oh this is like not

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_04]: making sense like I hear a wagon

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_04]: going through here and everything but there's no way

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_04]: a wagon could be here just like

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_04]: you know just experiencing something like that

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_04]: you know it was pretty amazing

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_01]: so this happened to me a while back

[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_01]: some holy doings there one night

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and he was painting people's faces

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_01]: my brother-in-law and I were sitting outside in

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_01]: the car my wife was in there

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and everybody was there you know and

[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_01]: well I had some reasons I didn't want to

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_01]: you know

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: but a guy kept coming out

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: come on come on and we just kept

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_01]: sitting there and finally

[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_01]: my brother-in-law and I we got out and we

[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_01]: walked onto the porch and he came out again

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_01]: he says come in now you guys come in

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_01]: they're about ready you know

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_01]: so he goes in and I finally just stand

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: there and I'm thinking to myself heck I don't know

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_01]: if I want to you know participate

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_01]: this time around and

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just standing there and I'm staring up at the

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_01]: sky and it's just

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_01]: quiet man like everybody's in there all

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_01]: the cars are parked outside and it's just

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_01]: quiet it's kind of this big porch

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_01]: like a patio and I'm standing there

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and all of a sudden

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_01]: the I don't know

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_01]: at night but it had this green hue

[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_01]: like how you look in night vision goggles

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_01]: that's how it looked yeah wow but

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I looked around I could see

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_01]: so far man I could see like it was

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_01]: daylight I looked up in those coollies

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I could see everywhere and

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_01]: so it stayed on for a while

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_01]: too so I looked to see that

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where it's coming from I'm looking for

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_01]: the source of the light and I can't see it there isn't

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_01]: a source to it it's like almost like the

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_01]: sky itself was a light bulb and just

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: turned on because there was

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: no source it came from everywhere

[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and when I look down at the

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_01]: the cars because I'm looking at their shadows

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_01]: to see where they're casting a light from

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah and the shadows

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_01]: of the cars are all directly under

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_01]: it like at a 45 degree

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_01]: angle coming all the way under it

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_01]: they're not on the sides

[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_01]: you know like in the evening when the shadow casts

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: on the side of the car not like

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_01]: that they're all directly under it

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and I'm standing there

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: staring at all this wonder and

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_01]: what in the you know what the heck's

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_01]: going on here and

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_01]: just like that it blinks

[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_01]: off and it's dark again

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and I'm staring up at the

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of toward the north I'm

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_01]: looking up that way and I said alright

[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_01]: you know because I took it as a spirit

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_01]: telling me hey it's okay just

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_01]: go ahead and go in

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_01]: it's alright

[00:33:01] [SPEAKER_01]: and so I was telling this story to

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_01]: the guy who was running

[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_01]: that ceremony

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and this was just

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_01]: about two weeks before the

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_01]: sundown this year he called us to his house

[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and he was speaking to me and my wife

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know before we

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_01]: before we got down to business

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_01]: he I told him this story

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I told him what I seen

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and he says

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_01]: you know what he says that

[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_01]: that's that sight that those spirits have

[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and he was saying the same thing you just said

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_01]: he said at night is their time

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_01]: at nights when they do their ceremonies

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_01]: when they have their

[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_01]: ways or at night he said

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_01]: what I think you saw that night

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_01]: was they gave you

[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_01]: their sight for a minute

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_01]: just to see it he said because during

[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_01]: the daytime he says they could

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_01]: be under rocks

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_01]: anywhere where their shadows is where they

[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_01]: hide out at night

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_01]: they all walk around freely and they do their thing at night

[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_04]: what's interesting is we have stories like that too

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_04]: is that

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_04]: I always get asked questions like

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_04]: why do spirits come out at night you know

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_04]: to a lot of non-indigenous people

[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_04]: and we would

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_04]: I would tell them

[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_04]: because it's hard for them to see during the

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_04]: day because the sun

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_04]: the sun is really bright

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_04]: and so the sun god is like

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_04]: he's very very powerful

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_04]: so it's kind of hard for them to see

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_04]: so when it goes down you know

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_04]: we say like in English they have that spirit

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_04]: vision too to where they can

[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_04]: kind of see like it's brighter than a full moon

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_04]: out there and everything

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_04]: so that's really interesting that you say that

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_04]: because we also have

[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_04]: stories like that too

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah that was a really weird time

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_01]: you know because

[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I never experienced anything like that

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_01]: in my life up to that point and I

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_01]: haven't since and you know I got curious

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I looked for

[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_01]: things on Google like you know natural

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_01]: phenomenon like that there's nothing

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_01]: out there I didn't ever find anything

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah

[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_04]: it's just one of those things that's just like

[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_04]: I mentioned earlier is like

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_04]: when you go to ceremony sometimes

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_04]: you know you experience these things and it's

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_04]: just like you know you're just standing there

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_04]: like no one will ever believe me

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_04]: what I just witnessed you know

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I got another one for you

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I've told this one before

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and people that listen to my podcast

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_01]: they know this story but

[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you so

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_01]: my dad was

[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_01]: outside of a sweat lodge

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and he was outside sitting there with this boy

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_01]: this boy must have been about 10

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and he was just

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_01]: watching the fire and the rock so when

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_01]: they in between rounds they would call

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_01]: from where rocks and that's what they'd bring them in

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_01]: with a pitchfork and put them in that pit

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and so this is what they were doing that day

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_01]: but um as they were sitting there

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_01]: during one of those

[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_01]: rounds that were on the door

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_01]: was closed and they're just sitting on this big stump

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_01]: like a big big stump you know

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_01]: it took about three men just to move it

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_01]: get it up and then start rolling it off

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_01]: would be a little easier but just to get it up

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_01]: there about three big men to do that

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_01]: well it's an old one

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_01]: because they use it for a chopping block and it's been there a long time

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_01]: so they're sitting on this

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and uh

[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_01]: just then they call for the

[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_01]: rocks to be put back in

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_01]: because they go back into the round and it's that time

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_01]: so they get up and they're

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_01]: putting them back in there the rocks everybody went

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_01]: back in and they're bringing the rocks in

[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and the door closes

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_01]: again so they go to sit

[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_01]: back down

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and hear that stumps all the way up on that hill

[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_01]: but just before all this

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_01]: happened that boy was saying

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_01]: um you believing in this stuff

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_01]: my dad just looked at him and he said

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah it's real

[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_01]: it's real

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I do

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_01]: but anyways as he seen that stump on top

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_01]: of that hill his mouth was just hanging open

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_01]: he couldn't believe what he was seeing

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_01]: like how did that happen and that time we got up

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_01]: there's no way that could have happened

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_01]: my dad told him

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_01]: he says no one they're just showing you that

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_01]: they're real it's like they'll do that

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_01]: sometimes they'll show you

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah he was just laughing at him

[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_01]: but it's one of those

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_01]: things that you're saying at ceremonies you'll see

[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_01]: things you don't really believe and it's

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_01]: it's actually life altering

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_01]: because it changes your view

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and it removes a lot of doubt

[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_01]: because you know doubts not good in those

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_01]: ceremonial ways you can't go in there with a lot

[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_01]: of doubt either it kind of nullifies

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of things

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah your belief in your faith in it is very very huge

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_04]: and you know I think

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_04]: the spirit people see the potential and you

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_04]: just need that little like that little

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_04]: niche to be able to be like okay

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_04]: you know I heard these stories but

[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_04]: you know like is it any

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_04]: truth is there any

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_04]: you know is it real and then

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_04]: the spirit people will present themselves in

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_04]: mysterious ways like that it would be different for

[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_04]: everybody and so it's really

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_04]: awesome to hear like people's experiences

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_04]: like that and it's just like

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_04]: you know it really takes you out of

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_04]: you know western living of

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_04]: like understanding what is real and what is not

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_04]: you know and then there's a lot of people out

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_04]: there that are like really skeptical

[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_04]: about a lot of these things it's like oh

[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_04]: that's not real oh that's not real

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_04]: and it's just like well there's a lot of experiences

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_04]: out there in this world and just because

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_04]: you have an experience mob doesn't mean it's not

[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_04]: real you know yeah that's

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_01]: part of their journey to the you know I've

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_01]: come to accept that that

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_01]: there there's no

[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_01]: provenness you don't have to prove it to

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: anybody there's that doesn't even

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_01]: matter you know yeah like for them it's

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_01]: their their place in this world to walk

[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_01]: that road that they're on it's not for us

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_01]: to try to push them off that path you know

[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_01]: it's it's theirs and there's a loan to walk

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and if they never ever have an

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_01]: experience like that is spiritual

[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_01]: experience like that or paranormal or

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_01]: anything like that that's for them

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_01]: you know and and their creator or lack

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_01]: thereof to to exist

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_00]: there

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_00]: you know

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_00]: that

[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_00]: you know

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_00]: and

[00:39:03] they

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_00]: don't

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_00]: know

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_00]: that

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_00]: you know

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_00]: that

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_00]: you know

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_00]: a

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_00]: lot of

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_01]: things

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_01]: that

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_01]: it's not our job to

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_01]: try and convince anybody of anything because we know

[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_01]: we know what

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_01]: what's real and what's not you know according to us

[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_01]: and what our experience is

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah that's one thing I always say in my videos too

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_04]: is just like I'm not trying to convince no one this is real

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_04]: this is for the people that have already experienced

[00:40:10] [SPEAKER_04]: these things and have questions and want to know

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_04]: what they experience and give that validity

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_04]: that they're not crazy

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_04]: you know give that validity that

[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_04]: you know what they're experiencing is real

[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_04]: and you know how to go about it

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_04]: respectfully interacting with these beings

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah I mean

[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_01]: there because there's so many I don't know if you've

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_01]: noticed but

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of these non-indigenous people

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_01]: that

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_01]: are into spirituality and things like that

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_01]: they have this

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how to say it like

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_01]: um

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_01]: without being too judgmental but they have this

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_01]: really naive way of

[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_01]: thinking about it all almost

[00:40:47] [SPEAKER_01]: with too big of an ego

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_01]: like they're the ones in charge

[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_01]: of these things

[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're not

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_01]: you know it's those spirits

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and all them that do these things

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_01]: that give you gifts to heal

[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_01]: or to have different sorts

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_01]: of sights you know whatever the case

[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_01]: is that medicine is what we call

[00:41:07] [SPEAKER_01]: medicine in general

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I've noticed a lot of them think

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_01]: well if I can just

[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_01]: find within myself

[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_01]: the balance

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and the power I can do this

[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's like wait a minute now

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_01]: you know

[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of this is really out of our hands

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_01]: it's not up to us if we're ever gonna

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_01]: you know hold

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_01]: medicine or be a part of a society

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_01]: or anything like that it's

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_01]: it's really those spirits that line it all up for you

[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_01]: to come into that

[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're not gonna just

[00:41:39] [SPEAKER_01]: hand a bayonet to a baby

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_01]: they're gonna test you

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_01]: they're gonna test you

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_01]: not everybody gets to be a medicine man

[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry but not everybody does

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and as a matter of fact if

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_01]: you look at it some of the people

[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_01]: that are really ceremonial

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_01]: they've been around those things their whole lives

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_01]: there are some people in there that have never seen a spirit

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_01]: but they're around these

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_01]: ceremonies all the time

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and they've never seen anything

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_01]: see like

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_01]: even amongst natives just

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_01]: because you're native indigenous

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_01]: to somewhere doesn't mean

[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_01]: you're inherently born with all this knowledge

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_01]: or anything you know

[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_01]: we're not all medicine men

[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_01]: you know we're top like you were saying from a young age

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and we're around it

[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_01]: we're exposed to it a lot so

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_01]: so we have a better understanding

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_01]: of the things that you know happen

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_01]: when they do than the average person

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_01]: that's never had an experience

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_04]: and then that's one thing I love is like

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_04]: one of the teachings I was given at a very young age is like

[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_04]: we're giving you these teachings

[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_04]: pretty much in the Navajo way they tell you

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_04]: to walk in beauty

[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_04]: and so when you walk in beauty

[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_04]: in your life mentally, spiritually

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_04]: and physically in that way

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_04]: you may never experience anything

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_04]: but these teachings we're giving you are just in case

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_04]: a spiritual being wants to have a conversation with you

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_04]: how are you going to react

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_04]: how are you going to conduct yourself

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_04]: how are you going to represent yourself

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_04]: and your family and your people in front of this being

[00:43:08] [SPEAKER_04]: so you know

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_04]: those are one of those teachings that like

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_04]: you may never run into these beings

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_04]: but still know that they're there

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_04]: you know my grandparents

[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_04]: they still wake up early in the morning

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_04]: before the sun gets up and they always

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_04]: pray to the morning sun for a new day

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_04]: they pray for their family and all this other stuff too

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_04]: so it's like one of those things

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_04]: just like always carrying on

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_04]: those teachings

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_04]: is something that's really good

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah in our tribe we have societies

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_01]: that kind of take care of that

[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_01]: like the youngest societies

[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_01]: the chickadee society

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_01]: that's where you're like

[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_01]: zero to like 14 years old

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and in that time

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_01]: you learn proper etiquette

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_01]: at the ceremonies

[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_01]: respect, you know, leadership

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_01]: you learn all these things

[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_01]: at a really young age

[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and then you'll go to the next society up

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and then to the next

[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and each society has different

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_01]: responsibilities

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_01]: and things like that for you

[00:44:07] [SPEAKER_01]: but like my boy

[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_01]: he just made it into the chickadee society himself

[00:44:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and in that society

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_01]: they have one song

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_01]: just one song they got to learn

[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_01]: that's where it starts

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_01]: they got to learn

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_01]: well they have a dance that they have to do too

[00:44:22] [SPEAKER_01]: within the

[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_01]: they have to do this dance in that lodge

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_01]: we build like an arbor

[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_01]: but anyways

[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_01]: they have to do their part in there

[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and then we have the crazy dog society

[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_01]: there's horn society members

[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_01]: anyways just different

[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_01]: societies take part in that

[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_01]: but the kids learn it really young

[00:45:19] [SPEAKER_01]: we made a big commitment this year

[00:45:24] [SPEAKER_01]: all these things more often

[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_01]: even though we, because I live off the res

[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_01]: that's where the work is for me

[00:46:14] [SPEAKER_04]: this is why I did like video stuff

[00:46:48] [SPEAKER_04]: one of those things that kind of help the newer generations

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_04]: you know that you're not around the language

[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_04]: constantly you're not around

[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_04]: you know the prayers or that you don't have

[00:47:30] [SPEAKER_04]: time sometimes to go to

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_04]: ceremonies because you got to work

[00:47:34] [SPEAKER_04]: or you don't have GTO or something like that

[00:47:36] [SPEAKER_04]: so you know that's

[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_04]: one of the things I always pray is that hopefully

[00:47:39] [SPEAKER_04]: in the future you know our nations

[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_04]: can build up enough to where

[00:47:43] [SPEAKER_04]: their youth and our youth

[00:47:45] [SPEAKER_04]: don't have to leave the res to be able to support themselves

[00:47:47] [SPEAKER_04]: in future families and everything

[00:47:53] [SPEAKER_01]: well the lack of economy

[00:48:10] [SPEAKER_01]: wanted to build a factory on an Indian reservation

[00:48:14] [SPEAKER_01]: if they were to there would be

[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_01]: so many

[00:48:19] [SPEAKER_01]: liabilities

[00:48:20] [SPEAKER_01]: so many what ifs if they tried

[00:48:22] [SPEAKER_01]: to do that because one it's reservation land

[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and at any minute

[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_01]: the councils can you know

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_01]: punish them for whatever reason

[00:48:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's just

[00:48:32] [SPEAKER_01]: not a good business idea

[00:48:33] [SPEAKER_01]: for them to come in there and be able to set up like that

[00:48:36] [SPEAKER_01]: now these little small ones

[00:48:37] [SPEAKER_01]: might have a better chance of doing it

[00:48:40] [SPEAKER_01]: you know non-natives coming in there

[00:48:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and leasing land from the

[00:48:43] [SPEAKER_01]: they might have a better chance of doing it

[00:48:45] [SPEAKER_01]: but I don't think any of the bigger businesses

[00:48:47] [SPEAKER_01]: are willing to take

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_01]: those sorts of risks

[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_03]: sovereign nations we can all be

[00:48:57] [SPEAKER_03]: like our own Wakanda's from Black Panther

[00:49:25] [SPEAKER_04]: that's a lot of opportunity

[00:49:26] [SPEAKER_04]: but it's very very slow building as far

[00:49:28] [SPEAKER_04]: as for trying to build an economy on our as over here

[00:49:34] [SPEAKER_01]: when you really think about it we're still recovering

[00:50:08] [SPEAKER_01]: do make something of yourself then

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_01]: you get into the circular reasoning where you're

[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_01]: save for the future or even teach

[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_01]: your kids a better way of

[00:50:25] [SPEAKER_01]: of um handling the money and things

[00:50:30] [SPEAKER_01]: is because with me I was never taught money

[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_01]: never ever taught it what I was

[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_01]: taught is as soon as you get it spend it

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_01]: that's what I was taught

[00:50:38] [SPEAKER_04]: it was funny I used to see a lot of memes

[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_04]: on uh Facebook and stuff when

[00:50:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Covid hit and then uh

[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Navajo Nation where it was giving out stimulus checks

[00:50:47] [SPEAKER_04]: and all that stuff

[00:50:50] [SPEAKER_04]: so we're all just like

[00:50:51] [SPEAKER_04]: hey you're just going to see a bunch of Navajos at the dealership

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_04]: getting cars you know getting

[00:50:55] [SPEAKER_04]: new TVs and stuff

[00:50:56] [SPEAKER_04]: you know but you know that's one of those

[00:51:01] [SPEAKER_04]: things is like

[00:51:03] [SPEAKER_04]: even though I had to leave the reservation

[00:51:05] [SPEAKER_04]: to live in the city you know it sucks

[00:51:07] [SPEAKER_04]: being away from home but I am

[00:51:09] [SPEAKER_04]: glad of the things I'm learning

[00:51:11] [SPEAKER_04]: outside of the res

[00:51:13] [SPEAKER_04]: learning I guess you can say

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_04]: uh the western way of

[00:51:17] [SPEAKER_04]: living to be able to master it

[00:51:19] [SPEAKER_04]: to be able to be like okay

[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_04]: you know one of those things that Bruce Lee

[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_04]: always talked about taking what is useful

[00:51:25] [SPEAKER_04]: to start with is not

[00:51:27] [SPEAKER_04]: you know you think about those things

[00:51:29] [SPEAKER_04]: you were able to take away

[00:51:30] [SPEAKER_04]: the good things that you learned in the city

[00:51:32] [SPEAKER_04]: and you were able to take that back to the reservation

[00:51:34] [SPEAKER_04]: to be able to help with

[00:51:36] [SPEAKER_04]: help change the mindset of a lot of people

[00:51:39] [SPEAKER_04]: to be able to grow

[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_04]: and help the next generation

[00:51:43] [SPEAKER_04]: to help the children

[00:51:44] [SPEAKER_04]: have a great grandchildren

[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_04]: pass on that knowledge of understanding

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_04]: because this way of living

[00:51:50] [SPEAKER_04]: is not going to go for it

[00:51:51] [SPEAKER_04]: it's not going to go back to how it was

[00:51:53] [SPEAKER_04]: so we might as well learn how to master it

[00:51:56] [SPEAKER_04]: but also blend it with our traditional

[00:51:59] [SPEAKER_04]: values and everything

[00:52:00] [SPEAKER_04]: in a beautiful way

[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah that's a really tall order

[00:52:05] [SPEAKER_01]: you know and I

[00:52:07] [SPEAKER_01]: know what can be done too is the thing

[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_01]: because if I'm out here doing it

[00:52:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and you're out here doing it

[00:52:11] [SPEAKER_01]: then we can all do it

[00:52:13] [SPEAKER_01]: it's just a matter of

[00:52:15] [SPEAKER_01]: breaking the chain of a lot of these behaviors

[00:52:18] [SPEAKER_01]: we were taught growing up

[00:52:20] [SPEAKER_01]: honestly it really is

[00:52:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and it starts with us

[00:52:23] [SPEAKER_01]: now our kids are going to be better off

[00:52:25] [SPEAKER_01]: because of how we are

[00:52:26] [SPEAKER_01]: they're going to see what we did

[00:52:28] [SPEAKER_01]: and that it will be with their kids

[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_01]: but it will take time

[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_01]: generations to start getting us

[00:52:35] [SPEAKER_01]: our people our nations

[00:52:36] [SPEAKER_01]: to a better

[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_01]: standing in the world

[00:52:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and jeez just in this America alone

[00:52:44] [SPEAKER_01]: because we don't want to be

[00:52:47] [SPEAKER_01]: dependent on anybody

[00:52:48] [SPEAKER_01]: because look how it is now

[00:52:49] [SPEAKER_01]: your tribal police departments are underfunded

[00:52:53] [SPEAKER_01]: they're underfunded

[00:52:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're overworked all your

[00:52:55] [SPEAKER_01]: police officers I mean we can just look at that alone

[00:52:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and it gets really hard on them

[00:53:01] [SPEAKER_01]: and a lot of times they won't stick it out

[00:53:03] [SPEAKER_01]: because there's so much

[00:53:05] [SPEAKER_01]: trauma there in itself

[00:53:08] [SPEAKER_01]: but one of these days I'm with you

[00:53:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I have hope and belief that

[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_01]: we will be able

[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_01]: to better stand on our own

[00:53:18] [SPEAKER_01]: versus

[00:53:20] [SPEAKER_01]: worrying about these funds

[00:53:21] [SPEAKER_01]: coming in we'll be able to do it ourselves

[00:53:23] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah one thing I really

[00:53:25] [SPEAKER_04]: love is the Canadian

[00:53:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Canadian natives up there

[00:53:29] [SPEAKER_04]: one thing I notice is that

[00:53:31] [SPEAKER_04]: they have their own Canadian

[00:53:33] [SPEAKER_04]: indigenous broadcast channels

[00:53:35] [SPEAKER_04]: on TV

[00:53:37] [SPEAKER_04]: they do like cartoons

[00:53:39] [SPEAKER_04]: in their language

[00:53:40] [SPEAKER_04]: and they teach songs through

[00:53:42] [SPEAKER_04]: shows and everything so like

[00:53:44] [SPEAKER_04]: little babies I see all the time

[00:53:46] [SPEAKER_04]: they're watching

[00:53:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I forget the name of the kids show

[00:53:50] [SPEAKER_04]: but jeez I wish

[00:53:53] [SPEAKER_04]: every tribe would take the initiative

[00:53:55] [SPEAKER_04]: to try something like that

[00:53:56] [SPEAKER_04]: because you see these kids these days are on ipads

[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_04]: and stuff like that

[00:54:00] [SPEAKER_04]: so when they're learning

[00:54:02] [SPEAKER_04]: how to say apple or banana

[00:54:03] [SPEAKER_04]: or something like that

[00:54:05] [SPEAKER_04]: you teach them in their language

[00:54:06] [SPEAKER_04]: just trying to find ways

[00:54:09] [SPEAKER_04]: to be able to stay up to date

[00:54:10] [SPEAKER_04]: because it's one of the things

[00:54:14] [SPEAKER_04]: that's growing up on the recognition

[00:54:15] [SPEAKER_04]: but there is a big culture shock

[00:54:18] [SPEAKER_04]: when you go to the city

[00:54:19] [SPEAKER_04]: because there are songs

[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_04]: that don't have to just be running water

[00:54:23] [SPEAKER_04]: and they go to school

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_06]: and they're like okay cool

[00:54:27] [SPEAKER_06]: you had good grades

[00:54:27] [SPEAKER_06]: you could go to college in New Mexico

[00:54:29] [SPEAKER_06]: or you could go to college in California

[00:54:31] [SPEAKER_06]: and they go out there

[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_06]: they're so far behind

[00:54:35] [SPEAKER_06]: where everybody else lives

[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I sleep by taking these initiatives

[00:54:44] [SPEAKER_04]: for the next generation

[00:54:49] [SPEAKER_04]: they can see YouTube

[00:54:50] [SPEAKER_04]: they can see all these different things

[00:54:56] [SPEAKER_04]: different problems

[00:54:58] [SPEAKER_04]: and you can solve them in different ways

[00:55:02] [SPEAKER_04]: because I really feel like it was my generation

[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_04]: that's when we first started getting iPhones

[00:55:10] [SPEAKER_04]: and then now this next generation that's coming up

[00:55:16] [SPEAKER_04]: access to internet

[00:55:17] [SPEAKER_04]: unlimited data

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_04]: and stuff like that

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_04]: I really do feel like they will be

[00:55:23] [SPEAKER_04]: the groundbreaking

[00:55:24] [SPEAKER_04]: in a lot of this stuff

[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_04]: teaching the knowledge

[00:55:29] [SPEAKER_04]: just like I said you and me

[00:55:31] [SPEAKER_04]: are other indigenous creators that are out there

[00:55:36] [SPEAKER_04]: playing the step-by-step

[00:56:33] [SPEAKER_04]: dealing with a being that was

[00:56:36] [SPEAKER_04]: really powerful

[00:56:37] [SPEAKER_04]: there were these certain songs that you would sing

[00:56:40] [SPEAKER_04]: to kind of call upon a spiritual warrior

[00:56:42] [SPEAKER_04]: and everything

[00:56:43] [SPEAKER_04]: sometimes those songs were used

[00:56:45] [SPEAKER_04]: for the thunder beings as well

[00:56:48] [SPEAKER_04]: so ahead of time

[00:56:49] [SPEAKER_04]: instead of like throwing in those dark tunnels

[00:56:52] [SPEAKER_04]: and everything

[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_04]: you could call upon the thunder beings

[00:56:55] [SPEAKER_04]: to be able to flood the tunnels

[00:56:57] [SPEAKER_04]: and flood them out and the thunder beings

[00:56:59] [SPEAKER_04]: can go ahead and get rid of the evil spirits that are there too

[00:59:12] [SPEAKER_04]: and sometimes people would kind of come along

[00:59:18] [SPEAKER_04]: people couldn't go and do ceremonies there anymore

[01:01:12] [SPEAKER_04]: so you know a lot of times

[01:01:14] [SPEAKER_04]: some of them were good spirits

[01:01:16] [SPEAKER_04]: but were angry because of how people were

[01:01:18] [SPEAKER_04]: treating their location in their home

[01:01:19] [SPEAKER_04]: so we would do a ceremony

[01:01:22] [SPEAKER_04]: offering and stuff to make them

[01:01:25] [SPEAKER_04]: and you know we would let the

[01:01:27] [SPEAKER_04]: owner of the building know about that

[01:01:30] [SPEAKER_04]: spirit and everything

[01:01:31] [SPEAKER_04]: and sometimes you know a lot of those spirits

[01:01:48] [SPEAKER_04]: race and religion to get them where they need

[01:01:50] [SPEAKER_04]: to go with their faith and belief. We would call upon

[01:01:53] [SPEAKER_04]: we would always say like you know the spirits

[01:09:57] [SPEAKER_04]: an exorcism on him at the location

[01:10:00] [SPEAKER_04]: and during the exorcism

[01:10:01] [SPEAKER_04]: you know like we're doing the ceremony

[01:10:04] [SPEAKER_04]: and then like the doors inside of that room

[01:10:06] [SPEAKER_04]: were closing by themselves

[01:10:08] [SPEAKER_04]: the room was all shaking

[01:10:09] [SPEAKER_04]: kind of like stuff you'd see in a movie

[01:10:11] [SPEAKER_04]: I was just like dude I was sitting there

[01:10:14] [SPEAKER_04]: but like

[01:10:16] [SPEAKER_04]: it was like one of those things

[01:10:17] [SPEAKER_04]: this is like through our trainings and everything

[01:10:20] [SPEAKER_04]: you train for this so you're used to it

[01:10:22] [SPEAKER_04]: you know it's just like

[01:10:23] [SPEAKER_04]: a firefighter going into a fire

[01:10:26] [SPEAKER_04]: he's scared but he knows how to overcome

[01:10:28] [SPEAKER_04]: that fear to be able to get the job done

[01:10:30] [SPEAKER_04]: you know policemen, army men

[01:10:32] [SPEAKER_04]: you know a veteran knows those things too

[01:10:34] [SPEAKER_04]: it's just like you gotta go over that fear

[01:10:36] [SPEAKER_04]: to be able to make sure your friend

[01:10:37] [SPEAKER_04]: your loved ones are protected so

[01:10:39] [SPEAKER_04]: you know but afterwards I was like thinking

[01:10:42] [SPEAKER_04]: about it and I rewatched the footage

[01:10:43] [SPEAKER_04]: I was like dang that's crazy

[01:10:46] [SPEAKER_01]: wow

[01:10:49] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah those um

[01:10:51] [SPEAKER_01]: those exorcisms

[01:10:52] [SPEAKER_01]: they're real

[01:10:53] [SPEAKER_01]: they happen in my tribe too

[01:10:55] [SPEAKER_01]: they've had to been performed too

[01:10:57] [SPEAKER_01]: in my tribe I mean

[01:11:16] [SPEAKER_01]: so my wife's cousin he's kind of

[01:11:19] [SPEAKER_01]: more like her brother

[01:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: he you know because we were raised together

[01:11:22] [SPEAKER_01]: he stayed behind

[01:11:24] [SPEAKER_01]: this grocery store on our res

[01:11:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Blackfeet Res called IGA

[01:11:28] [SPEAKER_01]: and there was an alley

[01:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: separating his fence line

[01:11:32] [SPEAKER_01]: of all the houses going down on the block

[01:11:34] [SPEAKER_01]: to the store

[01:11:35] [SPEAKER_01]: well these street people

[01:11:37] [SPEAKER_01]: would walk that those alleys

[01:11:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and stuff you know going from place to place

[01:11:42] [SPEAKER_01]: um

[01:11:44] [SPEAKER_01]: one day he was

[01:11:45] [SPEAKER_01]: up high because it was a two level apartment

[01:11:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and he was up high

[01:11:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and he was looking out the window

[01:11:51] [SPEAKER_01]: and he could see those street people

[01:11:54] [SPEAKER_01]: walking back there there was a group of them

[01:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: but there was this one guy

[01:11:58] [SPEAKER_01]: that was standing behind them

[01:12:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and he just looked funny like how he was standing

[01:12:02] [SPEAKER_01]: there swaying

[01:12:04] [SPEAKER_01]: staggered but never fall

[01:12:06] [SPEAKER_01]: then all of a sudden he just stood there

[01:12:09] [SPEAKER_01]: like he was getting ready to

[01:12:10] [SPEAKER_01]: really dance I guess like he's really getting

[01:12:12] [SPEAKER_01]: ready to dance

[01:12:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and he took off running

[01:12:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and he jumped right inside of this one lady

[01:12:19] [SPEAKER_01]: and um when he jumped in there

[01:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: her name was Wanda he says it

[01:12:22] [SPEAKER_01]: on my podcast so it's okay to say the name

[01:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: but he jumps in that lady named Wanda

[01:12:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and here um

[01:12:29] [SPEAKER_01]: she just

[01:12:30] [SPEAKER_01]: spun around and she grabbed

[01:12:33] [SPEAKER_01]: a couple of them guys

[01:12:34] [SPEAKER_01]: threw him up against the wall through the other one across

[01:12:36] [SPEAKER_01]: the alley into the fence

[01:12:38] [SPEAKER_01]: and just start beating them up

[01:12:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and uh

[01:12:41] [SPEAKER_01]: he's seen this so he goes running outside

[01:12:44] [SPEAKER_01]: to stop it and break it up but the time he gets out there

[01:12:47] [SPEAKER_01]: she's sitting

[01:12:48] [SPEAKER_01]: on the ground like just sitting there

[01:12:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and all of those people are moaning

[01:12:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're like all beat up and bruised

[01:12:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and hurt and she's just sitting

[01:12:56] [SPEAKER_01]: there looking around like confused but crying

[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_01]: saying

[01:12:59] [SPEAKER_01]: what happened

[01:13:01] [SPEAKER_01]: what happened and she's just looking around

[01:13:04] [SPEAKER_01]: like what

[01:13:05] [SPEAKER_01]: where like why are they you know

[01:13:08] [SPEAKER_01]: she couldn't figure it out and she was just crying

[01:13:11] [SPEAKER_01]: but that

[01:13:12] [SPEAKER_01]: see that's what we call an alcohol spirit

[01:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: jumped in here that day and that same one

[01:13:18] [SPEAKER_01]: has been seen

[01:13:19] [SPEAKER_01]: around downtown in there

[01:13:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and one of my other friends ran into it too

[01:13:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and it was stagger and weird

[01:13:25] [SPEAKER_01]: staggered right in front of this car

[01:13:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and like you know almost made him stop

[01:13:29] [SPEAKER_01]: as it walked by

[01:13:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and one of my nieces seen it too

[01:13:34] [SPEAKER_01]: followed her home

[01:13:35] [SPEAKER_01]: scared the hell out of her but

[01:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: those are real things

[01:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: that happen those spirits can jump into you

[01:13:41] [SPEAKER_01]: particularly when you're weak

[01:13:43] [SPEAKER_01]: when you got no protection

[01:13:44] [SPEAKER_01]: like if you willingly just

[01:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: become an alcoholic like these folks

[01:13:49] [SPEAKER_01]: where it's easy for those

[01:13:51] [SPEAKER_01]: things to attach to you to control

[01:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: you to do whatever they want with you just

[01:13:55] [SPEAKER_01]: toy with you you know

[01:13:57] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah

[01:13:58] [SPEAKER_04]: definitely see that too here like we have alcohol

[01:14:01] [SPEAKER_04]: spirits like drug spirits too

[01:14:03] [SPEAKER_04]: over here and so it's just like

[01:14:05] [SPEAKER_04]: you know whenever they would kind of come up

[01:14:07] [SPEAKER_04]: and they would ask for stuff you know

[01:14:08] [SPEAKER_04]: you can feel something on them

[01:14:10] [SPEAKER_04]: you know like if I ever have any

[01:14:13] [SPEAKER_04]: experience change I would give it to them and

[01:14:14] [SPEAKER_04]: they would reach out their hand and try to

[01:14:16] [SPEAKER_04]: shake my hand and I'll be like I don't think

[01:14:18] [SPEAKER_04]: you know I don't want to shake your hand because

[01:14:20] [SPEAKER_04]: you know they could transfer things

[01:14:22] [SPEAKER_04]: like that unknowingly whatever's attached

[01:14:24] [SPEAKER_04]: them you know to you so I would just

[01:14:26] [SPEAKER_04]: give them the change and you know how it can

[01:14:28] [SPEAKER_04]: go on their way and everything so yeah
